Rachel Crying

All the children, the mothers
we can hear Rachel crying
weeping in that land
for her children are no more

A country of orphans
of numb survivors
wandering, wondering
Lord, how can this be

My prayer this morning
that change would finally come
the land would reap a harvest
with love, the aid coming in

Not just for this season
this time of pain and struggle
this nation reclaimed
truly set back on its feet

Rising from the rubble, the ashes
like a phoenix ascending
soaring, like eagles
on the wings of God’s love
