His life changed
into the waters,
rising, the dove upon him
into the desert
tempted from his path
Back to his hometown
to the synagogue of his youth
picking up the scriptures
reading from the ancient verse
Claiming the power
the ministry of love
the words of Isaiah
written on his life
More than they could understand
this man whom they had known
all of his life a carpenter
unable to hear his truth
Driven from the town
all he had fully known
to wander the earth, a messenger
until his work on earth was done
