The promise of God
not to destroy all life
never again as with flood
to curse the ground because of man
to see our sin,
and unleash his wrath,
his holy rage
In this story, so long ago
the promise from God above
the seeds of my hope
his love come down
the prophecy Christ fulfilled
For, not in the law,
the two-sided law
the contract, covenant
between God and man
This is the place
God’s love, his grace
first came down to the earth
Saving us from ourselves
in spite of our sin,
promising never to destroy
all of life because of man
hope of saving from him
Revealed in the Christ
the coming of God
Emmanuel here as man
his choice to go to the cross
washing us clean with his blood
