Not by my works,
not even when I try my best
God is my salvation
in him alone eternal rest
The flood, the fire, the cross
these we all have earned
my sin ever present
no matter what is in my heart
Descending to the earth
walking as a man
The cross, the tomb, the skies
the savior alone survived
In my repenting, accepting
the gift of holy grace
God alone redeems me
into his eternal embrace
