The Defense of Innocence

The false conviction
charges that they raised
claiming he spoke blasphemy
when he claimed his name

The defense of innocence
denying the blasphemy
because he was the Christ
the Messiah, walking on the earth

The story could have been different
if they had but believed
understanding Jesus was the Christ
come in love, to save humanity

Innocent of the crimes
for which he was convicted
the lamb upon the cross
now the risen Lord
seated, crowned in victory
