Maybe two and a half
certainly no more than that
running in the yard with grandpa
going from flower to flower
The mountain laurel
the giant rhododendron
the ground cover more at her height
all of them sending her reeling
in giggles of delight
Drinking in the scents
picking them in her imagination
running from plant to plant
too much for grandpa on the hot day
happy to let her run herself
