hope was shattered
they were crushed in their spirits
their Master, their Lord
was in the tomb
they saw no point in staying
in the upper room with the others
they left, going,
journeying back home.
hope was shattered
despair filled their spirits
they thought Christ was dead
that this was the end
they were downtrodden
lost in their sorrow
until Christ walked beside them
out on the road.
