In stubbornness, in pride
I leave, I run away;
I go my own way, defiant.
I deny the need for the
cross;
I deny my need for God.
In stubbornness,
self-centeredness,
as if in my own person,
creation.
For a moment I believe the
lie of the self-made man,
not needing the Creator, the
Savior;
Lost in the myth, our
collective self-delusion.
In stubbornness, in
blindness,
wandering in the same filth
as the one, the Prodigal Son.
The pigs eat fully,
but I am lost, hungry.
I need the cross, to
survive;
I need God’s love.
