The courts of Caesar
in that captive land
a beachhead of evil
in the promised land
Yet the people came to him
Caesar’s representative
asking to kill the Messiah
while a terrorist was set free
As if bin Laden
had asked the gates of Abu Ghraib
were opened for Al Qaeda
that the powerful
would set a terrorist free
The people complicit
in the death of Jesus
sacrificing the Lamb
to set Barabbas free
