what sorrow in heaven
what pain for the Father
though he foreknew everything
healing the trial, the judgment
the people, the Jews,
God’s chosen people
condemning the Savior, Messiah
to die in Gentile hands
giving the hope of the world
the living Son of God
giving him over to death
the blood of the Lamb
into the hands of Caesar
shackled by their foreign masters
the unblemished life before them
sent in our place to die
