sitting in my ashes,
the glowering doom
slowing my breathing
to hear your precious word
sitting in my ashes
marked by your pain
the shame we transferred
to your holy name
sitting in my ashes
beside my neighbors
my sister preaching
of this holy season
sitting in my ashes
mindful of the journey
slowing my walk
to feel you near me
