without a sound
without a word
convicted of my sin
exactly as Christ had said
that I would want to live
denying him three times
before the dawn
the rooster’s call
convicted of my transgression
with his eyes of sorrow
there where David had trod
the kangaroo court,
far less than my sin,
denying my Savior
so that I would live
with his eyes of sorrow
the lamb before the slaughter
sin heaped upon him
prophecy about to unfold
exactly as he promised
