Like a
picture from our past
gathering
dust in an album
pulled down
from a shelf
our memory,
our mind
holds onto
the grievance
the guilt,
the shame
of our
history.
We hold on,
we are not ready
not
forgiving, not releasing
not moving
on, forward
when we are
already
clean of
that stain
made right
before God
the
forgiveness of sin.
God has
forgiven
by the
sacrifice of Christ
the debt
already paid
on the
altar of the cross;
but we hold
onto the sin
to the
picture in the album
not
releasing the past
when we are
already forgiven.
