Which freedoms do we value – v2

In a moment of reflection
pausing to contemplate
may we stop on Independence Day
to think of our freedoms
in a totally new way

To answer honestly
the echoes of Christ’s sermon
which freedoms do we value
which we see as a bother
a limit on our excess

Living out the Beatitudes
an echo of His life
loving as He did
how our Savior walked
how He lived and died for us

Surrendering His station
emptied of heaven
falling to the earth
walking humbly as a man
that we would have new birth

Living out the Beatitudes
humbly in this life
as His followers, disciples,
sharing gently His message of love
that all would have new life
