I Am the Gate
there is no other
no way to the Father
but this path
no way to salvation
but by the cross
the sacrifice given
the way set for us
I Am the Gate
so said the Christ
but the words did not sink in
they did not believe
I Am the Gate
so said the Christ
the leaders are blind
they did not believe
No more clear than this
the words of the Christ
I am the Gate, the Way
the source of all life.
Christ cleared away confusion
ambiguity about himself
I am the Gate, the Way
the source of all life.
Come to me little children
sheep of my flock
I am the Shepherd for you
I call you by name
I am the land owner
I am the Master
I Am the Gate for the sheep
the sheep know my name
through me safe pasture
I guard the way
I Am the Gate for the children
the family of God
through me is salvation
safe in God’s arms
