Promise of Easter – v2

(not the gloom of Good Friday)

We marvel, we hope for, for the coming of the Lord

in final victory, we pray this one voice, freely

for we are the Easter people, confident,

those who rejoice at the promise of the empty tomb

the fulfillment of the prophets, of scripture

the Resurrection, the commissioning, the Ascension

We are the people of the rising, not the death,

the sacrifice. We are the morning, not the darkness,

we rise for He is risen, joyous in the reconciliation

the union with God once more, restored,

only possible because Christ is risen from the dead
