An Uninvited Guest – v2

Bursting in, unexpected,
unwelcome, an uninvited guest
Coming to the Christ
in the house of another
seeking healing
coming right to Him

Christ responding,
healing them,
showing mercy
but first questioning,
the content of their faith
in the cold words alone

Christ healing,
showing real compassion
even on the Sabbath
bringing wholeness
for the stranger
in the place where He was

Giving a lesson
upturning their theology
changing their whole world
the rules that they lived by
the Black Letter Law
not nearly enough

God’s love greater, real
calling us to welcome
to care for all those in need
offering ourselves freely
giving help to the stranger,
to all who are in need
