an image of a fabric
of a scene on tapestry
of a circle connected
suddenly shattered
pieces of what was whole
the shards sharp, jagged,
their pain real, lasting,
cutting into flesh
all who would touch them,
but the circle is
important,
the extended family
healing the damage
they have left
the blood, the living
flesh,
yet the shards still there,
encapsulated, remaining
under the scar tissue
hidden there, still
painful.
