Can we imagine ourselves
as Simon of Cyrene,
forced to walk with Christ
to carry His cross
pulled from the crowd
leaving his sons
to walk the way of shame.
Can we feel the sweat of
Jesus
His hot breath on our neck
His blood spattered on us
carrying that awful cross.
Do we walk with Christ
on the way to the cross
where He suffered and died
where He bore the awful
cost;
Is Lent real, does it
touch us;
our Savior going to the
cross
suffering and dying for us.
