Taking in this worship,
this act of faithfulness,
breathing in this question
of Mary
what she must have been
thinking
standing, trembling, in awe,
before Gabriel, the angel of
God.
“How could I choose any
other path?”,
she must have thought
than submission, than
praise,
giving her life over
for the glory of God.
A child of David, herself,
of the royal line, descended,
gifted, blessed, to raise a
Son;
choosing the only path
she saw for herself
submitting her life to God,
Singing the Magnificat.
