Eyes of the Psalmist

The rich man blind, unable to see
the world through the eyes of the psalmist
trusting instead the things of the earth
his prestige, his wealth, his possessions alone
Holding onto when he should give
gathering in things of the world
His storehouses bursting while others have need
showing no kindness in word or deed
The commandments clear, from the Lord
his intention revealed
the trust of the psalmist
what we should believe
giving when we see others in need
Setting himself up as if he were God
trusting in his hands to provide
empty those hands before the Lord
when his life is done
