An unholy altar, an idol of rust
craven gods, that will turn to dust
worshipping our possessions
fealty to our wealth
the things of this earth
not Christ’s holy birth
Forgetting the commandments
uncomfortable reminders of our sin
wanting to trust in our own abilities
taught by our culture that we are all that is
what will we do when the creator comes to call
Like the rich man, unable to leave his wealthy, his power
gathering in, full barns, but no heart for his fellow man
A false and corrupt world, tempting us from our way
ready to bring us to hell, unless we change our way
Christ was the example, and the saints of old,
heeding the master’s call,
doing what we are told
Living by the covenant
the commandments of our king
ready to enter the fiery furnace
to yoke our lives to him
