He stood alone
or seemingly so
on the battlefield
the giant before him
Powerful, David,
the shepherd
standing on the plain
the Lord by his side
Stone from the wadi
washed smooth by the waters
warming in his palm
by the sling let fly
Standing before the giant
now slay at his feet
given power to vanquish
by his faith in our God
