In what we say and do
living out his commands
to love one another
as he loved all of us
Nothing did he hold back
all did he give
calling us friends not servants
going to the grave
Love boundless
nothing we can repay
offering the same to our neighbor
each and every day
Such a tall order
the command of our risen Lord
needing the Spirit’s power
to even come close to this call
All of us unworthy
yet all us are to be redeemed
believing in our savior
and acting on his word

John 13:34-35
sermon, “The New Commandment”
by Rene Rand
“Jesus tells the disciples to love one another and that,
by our love for one another, the whole world will know
we are His disciples. Rene will share how her grandmother
helped her to understand this teaching of Jesus.”
