Extinguishing the Light

While the words define the motion
extinguishing the light
we too are the actors
the children of our God
While the words seem distant
of his Passion week
we too are complicit
in the death of Christ
While the words are foreboding
extinguishing the light
only through the sacrifice
do we have new life
Now, though, darkness
extinguishing the light
Christ dying for us
entering that night
