Watching the performance
for a fleeting moment
my gaze enthralled
by the tethered dancer
Her pirouette
caught, held captive
spinning around the
invisible cord
her arms akimbo,
bent up to her chin
her leg, toes pointed
to the ground
a tethered dancer,
blowing in the breeze
watched for a moment
by this adoring fan
seeing you from down below
watching your dance
in time and space

Tethered Dancer
based on the swamp maple leaf I saw caught
in a spider’s web at the back of Beech Street School
this morning, while dropping off Shyanne
