I
say I forgive them
for
the hurt they caused me
I
have spoken it often
I
pray it frequently
driving
down from Houlton;
but
what would I say
if
they were standing before me
what
if they saw me in church
or
down at Debbie’s,
would
I say I forgive them
is
they were right in my face?
How
do I react, my body,
my
blood vessels,
when
I see a status update
their
picture on Facebook
or
words on Twitter
I
say I forgive them
but
is the wound still open
not
yet scar tissue
smooth
to the touch.
