God trims my branches

even when I am faithful

as much as I can, abiding,

growing, connected to the vine

even when I am staying connected

to Jesus, to my Savior, to holy scripture

I falter, I stumble

along our way, on my journey

God trims my branches

the leaves of the world

the paths away from Him

God straightens my branches

God tightens my vines

my branches to bear

to offer a greater harvest

more, better fruit,

God trims my branches

even while I abide in the vine
