In the Wet Wood – v5

The evergreen forest, wet fragrance
after the cooling shower
sweet scent of pine
caught in wisps of air
mixing with more earthy tones
wafting on the breeze.

Damp night falling
around me as I walk
in the darkening evening
on the wet dirt road
a stillness around me
in the northern wood.
