That which was before the beginning
the Christ, the living Word
the light, the truth, the way
descended from the heavens
given feet of clay
Giving up his deity
descending from his throne
walking as a man
humbled as a servant
becoming the lamb
Giving himself over
to the master’s will
drinking of the cup,
going to the cross for us
climbing Calvary’s hill
Raised on high
ascending to his throne
his grace making us free
atoning for our sin
in him we are reborn
