For Peace in the Maghreb – v2

A prayer for peace
for the taste of true freedom
for peace in the Maghreb
for all its neighbors
for the whole region

The ancient lands
along the Mediterranean
once held by empires
still yearning to be free
wanting to speak
to raise their voices

Too long under
the boot of the depots
the tyrants, the strongmen
allowed to remain in power
by the rest of the world

Now is the time
yearning for freedom
cheered on by the nations
the people around the globe

to act in the Middle East, especially in Libya and Bahrain,
to stand with the people
yearning to breathe free
and not worrying about the results,
that it is always right to stand for basic human rights
&
on the transformations since the beginning of January -
all the protests in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Oman,
Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Djibouti, Mauritania, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, etc.
