Strip us of violence
the Cult of the Gun
the coarseness, the
language
holding us down
pulling us apart
Raise up people
to speak against rage
the divisions that hurt
us
healing our nation
changing this age
Give us freedom
a sense of our liberty
this heightened control
armed to the teeth
not making us free
So many guns
blood in the street
confrontation escalating
so many victims
our sorrow replete
