Floodgates

Like floodgates, opening with a storm
the fire of Pentecost, the conversion
spreading of the flames, the believers growing in number
outward from their cloister, to the Temple
to the streets of Jerusalem, out beyond the gates
into the world, trying to be stopped; but no such luck
Seeds planted, germinated, growing in fertile soil
unquenchable truth, unwilling to be silenced
Ordinary men, untrained in the law
the nuances of control lost on them
They could not be stopped.
