They stood before the counsel, the Sanhedrin
two fishermen, or so it would seem
no one special, men with calluses, lives of work
untrained in the law, the scripture, a life of study
But they were different than they seemed
They had walked with Christ,
emboldened by the Spirit, they would not be silenced
they were not afraid of man.
They were called by God, to be witnesses,
to begin the building of the church,
to heal in his holy name
and proclaim the good news of his life
this sacrifice of God, the indwelling of the spirit
for all believers, raising us up on eagles wings
bearing us up, so we can do the will of God
our hands, our feet bring his message to the world
