Like long swords
pulled from the scabbards of the earth
jewel encrusted blades
the long leaves of the lilies
bright kelly green
on the edge of the sidewalk
you could almost see them preen
Hundreds of the drops
of the morning mists
coalescing into large jewels
the pools of the water
gathered there along the length
calling my eyes to look
proud of their finery
A gentle gust of wind
or even the weight
of their movement
could send them
tumbling to the earth
falling in slow motion
lost on the ground
