God sent his Son
down to earth as man
submissive to God’s command
giving up his will
Unlike Abraham
preparing to sacrifice Isaac
Christ took on the mantle
choosing to become the Lamb
Christ is the Messiah
the one long foretold
He is the Emmanuel
God here with us
God, who is Love,
chose to climb the tree
becoming the lamb, the sacrifice
climbing the rugged cross
This was love,
something we could see
God come down as a human
to bring us liberty
This was the command
how we are to love
Christ choosing the path to Calvary
when Love climbed the Cross
