More than a parable,
a story, even a healing
Christ in the upper room
on the night of his betrayal
speaking a new law
a new holy commandment
to love our neighbors as he loved us
to love as God loves us
The importance of this teaching
in the context of the moment
not on tablets of stone
but spoken to them by God
a new holy commandment
how we are to love
one of the last words he would give us
