the seething spirit of anger – v2

A festering presence

overcoming reason;

The seething spirit of anger

a consuming fire

burning within us.

Wanting to exact judgment

to inflict retribution,

when we are wronged

in this life, wanting

to balance the scales.

An eye for an eye, or more

the seething spirit of anger

gripping our mortal clay;

Dividing us from our neighbors

our friends, our family.
