pungent, sweet, decay
giving up their color,
deep, rich aroma
maples leaves fallen
almost like ripe tomatoes
their colors dripping
giving off fragrance
in the wet fall morning
offering up for our pleasure
in this appointed season;
a whisper of springtime
of our planting in the soil
