So many names

So many names
to understand God
not just in the triune sense
the three faces of the divine
only the starting place

The Father, the creator
the one who conjured life
the one who started it all
Yet the one who came
down to the earth
there at the beginning of time

And the Spirit, who came
in the holy name of Christ
to guide on this walk
until he came again
the breath of God
which gave us life
here to lead us home again

The other names of God,
sustainer, savior, and king
all too few to measure
the expanse of the one
to whom we bring our praise
beyond our feeble minds to comprehend
