The simple cross of wood
around my neck, reminding
symbol of the cross of Jesus
where he suffered
and died for me
Carried with me
on my journey
going with me day to day
onward marching
following my savior
Solemnly bearing,
within my heart,
the spirit of
that old rugged cross
