Lazarus named for a reason
The rich man was every man
anonymous, unnamed
yet the beggar was given a name
that we remember the truth
the words of Christ meaningful
a lesson for all time
God knows each one of us
and expects his children to care
to love one another
Lazarus was named for a reason
that we would remember our neighbors
the ones close at hand
In the shadows, beside us,
that we would reach out to them
as we are surely able
to offer more than we normally give
keeping too much for ourselves
caring for those near to us
the brothers and sisters in our lives
