Walking Slowly - 2
Deep in thought and despair
slowing walking home
Cleopas and the other
out on the dusty road
Confused and unbelieving
though they had heard the Christ
devastated by his dying
in shame on the cross
The road home endless
though the way was short
the longest seven miles
they ever did walk
The stranger’s words piercing
explaining the holy Word
how the Messiah would come
how his death and rising
could save the whole world
