Glad we are speaking
speaking out in public
for the people now
the atrocities of the tyrants
Yet we were too long silent
comfortable as a nation
to lean on the strongmen
in false securities
Even our enemies
serving a purpose
the devil we knew
rather than the unknown
Yet we need to speak
to stand with the people
crying with them
for their liberty

Great poem, does get one sentimental. good good :) keep writing
One suggestion, add an image as I will work well with the poem and will give it an essence worth reading.
Very well written.
Also, read my poem:
