Universal Rights

The rights of the people
universal rights of dignity
of respect for their freedoms
the will of the governed
their voices heard

Universal rights
not some abject notion
needing to stand now
to demand their freedom
the rights of the people
their voices heard

versus the bloodshed in Bahrain and Libya, etc.

hearing claim by President Obama 2/15/2011
in a news conference that when history books tell it
we will be seen as being on the right side of history
in how the United States responded
