Faithful, though we are not

Signs, prophesies, promises
fulfilled, God faithful
though we are not
when we break the covenants
stray from the law, from God
his love remains
steadfast, constant
returning us to the father
throughout the stories
the people of the book
ultimately leading
the fulfillment of the promise
the coming of Christ
the Messiah, God, love,
walking on the earth
coming as the babe in the manger
reconciling us to God
through his life, his death
on the cross, sacrificing
his life for us all
