The Star Above Them

unlike the wise men
who traveled far
the star above them
but no one came to the stable at all
only the shepherds
working late in the night
called by the angels
singing in heavenly delight
Where were the others
including those
who heard Zechariah’s call
the savior of the world
come as was foretold
How could they have missed
the wonder of his light
shining down upon them
that cold Christmas night
