His Promise Alive

the words of God
the covenants of old
written in the prophets
the words of scripture
His promise alive
heralded into the world
by the priest, the mute
given voice
Spirit filled, words to proclaim
the dawn of a new age
Christ entering into the world;
make the way straight for the Lord
