Christ himself
cutting through the clutter
not vague in who he was
though we didn’t hear
He was communicating
in words we should comprehend
if we would but listen
to the message for us
He told us directly
the importance of him
his role, his place
the centrality for our lives
He said:
I am the way,
the truth, the life,
the gate to the father,
the means to eternal life
Nothing more clear
how to change our lives
conformed to his cross
yoked to the Christ
Dying with him
from our sin
following our savior
that I may rise with him
