In a tough position
being a righteous man
looking upon his bride
already with child
Wanting to be righteous
to show mercy, compassion
to send her away in quietness
to spare her a stoning
Humble to our Master
heeding the angel’s story
faithful to God’s calling
to bring her to him
Healing the situation
marrying Mary,
as the angel commanded
naming the boy, Jesus
saving all of God’s people
